Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I’m so glad to talk about my lesson here. The lesson plan I’m going to talk about is from SEFC book 1A, Module 4 A Lively City. I’ll explain in the following 5 parts: 1. the analysis of material 2. teaching objectives and key points/difficult points in teaching 3. teaching theories, methods and aids 4. teaching procedure and 5. the design of the blackboard.
1.The analysis of material
The text talks about the city Xiamen including its location, weather , tourism, architecture, housing, business district and so on in the form of dialogue. It is a reading class and it plays an important part in the English teaching. In this class, students will learn about the city Xiamen, remember some words and useful languages to describe a city, know how to describe and try to describe a city. By describing a city, students will learn more cities and then love own city and China. And the students will do some listening, speaking and writing to improve their professional skills.
2.Teaching objectives and key points/difficult points in teaching.
And now, I’d like to interpret my teaching objectives.
1). Knowledge Objectives
Students should fully understand main idea of the text. Then students should master the word like fortunate, pretty, sound, tourist, bother,nuisance, rent, district, approach, harbor, gorgeous, park, architecture, starve.
2). Ability Objectives
After learning, students can retell or summerise the text . Through listening and speaking in class, the skills of listening , speaking and logic thinking ability can be improved.
3). Moral objectives
Cultivate the good feelings of loving the motherland and their own home; foster co-consciousness.
4).Key points in teaching
Understand and master the words and phrases in the text.
4).Difficult points in teaching
How to undertand the text better and improve the skills of language. And how to improve the ability of students’ reading comprehension, help students to analyze information in their own words.
3.Teaching theories, methods and aids
1).Teaching theories
First, my theoretical basis is schema theory. According to it, the process of listening is an interactive movement between the listening material and the students. For my course is a reading lesson,sometimes, students may feel hard in understanding the foreign backgrounds during the course of their listening. So at the beginning of the lesson, I give out some information of the background as well as some differences between two languages.
2).Teaching methods
As for teaching methods, i mainly adopt communicative approach in my class. I’ll organize them to perform various dialogues in pairs or groups. While for their learning, I mainly adopt task-based teaching approach.
1).Teaching aids
I’ll use Multi-media and blackboard as my teaching aids.
4. Teaching procedure
Here is my most important part of my teaching plan, teaching procedure. It includes 8 steps:greeting and review; watching a video, word bank, skimming, careful reading, sentences, team work, assignment.
Step1. Greeting and review(2minutes)
Greet the students as usual
Ask some questions about last class.
Step 2. Watching a video about Xiamen(5minutes)
1). Learn about the city of Xiamen
2). Find out words and useful languages to describe a city
3). Ask a few students to tell their feeling of Xiamen
Step 3. Word Bank(2 minutes)
Make sure students can know these words. It heps students with their understanding of the text.
1). Fortunate means lucky
2). Pretty hot means too hot
3). Bother you means give you problems
4). Nuisance means causing problems
5). Shopping small means shopping center
6). Gorgeous means lovely
7). Starving means very hungry
Step 4. Skimming(4 minutes)
Through skimming, students grasp the contents of the class as soon as possible in the limited time. Students can get the overall impression of the class, training them to capture the keywords with eyes.
Read the text as soon as quickly as possible and find out what the text is about. (it is about a beautiful city Xiamen)
Step 5. Careful Reading(15 minutes)
By reading carefully, students can get more information of the text, and more details of the city, read the text carefully and complete the table:

Step 6. Sentences (5 minutes)
Translate These Sentences into Chinese.
1). It has been six years since we last saw each other, you know.
2)And this is the first time I have visited your hometown.
By doing the translation, the students can learn the main words and phrase of the text and use them freely.
Step 7. Team Work(15 minutes)
The rest 15 minutes for the part then will be given to consolidate the knowledge in the lesson. Describe a city and show your performance in class with the help of these sentences.

Step 8. Assignment(1 minutes)
In the left 1 minutes, I’ll recall what have been learned in this period, and remind the students to do more exercises to consolidate them after class.
The title of this reading passage is on the top of the blackboard. Divede the blackboard into 2 parts. The left part is for some key words, while the right part is for the screen.
