Part1 Analysis of Teaching Material
The contents are chosen from Vocational School Hotel Service English Book, published by Publishing House of Electronics Industry. I chose Unit8 Operator Service. My lesson is dialogue1 Wake-up Call of this unit. This topic is related to students’ major and daily life. It can raise students’ learning interests. It is not only helpful to improve students’ listening and speaking ability, but also students’ service sense and service skill in a hotel. Students can know more and more service knowledge about the hotel.
Part 2 Analysis of the students
The students are in grade three, they are major in tourism. There are only 5 boys, the others are girls. Most of them love English and like speaking English. Only a few of them lack of the enthusiasm of English learning. But they are creative and full of energy, they have strong desire to perform well. What they need most is help and encourage. So as an English teacher of a vocational school, the most important is how to inspire their interests in English and set up their confidence.

c) Audio-visual Teaching Method
2) Learning methods
According to the features of vocational students, I’ll use the following learning methods:

Part 6 Analysis of Teaching Procedures
There are seven steps in my teaching procedures. But before teaching, I will divide the whole class into 4 groups to do competitions while finish different tasks in this lesson.
StepⅠLead-in
1) I will ask two groups to give their presentation, the topic is Giving Directions which have learned last class.
2) After the presentation, teacher asks the students: As a worker in a hotel, what kind of services will provide for the guests? For example, giving directions, transportation consultation, dealing with complaint, etc. Lead in the new lesson—morning call service, it’s also called wake-up call.
Purpose of design: Through the performance, students can review and consolidate the knowledge of last class. At the same time, teacher can use the information of that content to lead in the new lesson.
StepⅡWords and Expressions
Learn words and expressions:
I will use different ways to teach students to read the words and expressions. Ask students to read in class/in groups/in pairs.
And I will use other ways to help them master the words.
Purpose of design: I think read in different ways can help the students to master the words and expressions quickly and well.
Step Ⅲ Listening
1) First listening:
First, ask the students to listen to the video.
Purpose of design: Listening with a video display, I think it’s more vivid, It not only easy to attract attention of students, and stimulate students’ interests.
2) Second listening:
I will ask the students to listen to the video again and write down the three ways of morning call.
Purpose of design: Train the students' ability of grasping the important information in the process of listening.
Step Ⅳ Speaking
1) Read and underline
I will ask the students to read the dialogue quickly by themselves, and underline the sentences about in bold face. Teacher writes the sentences on the blackboard.
Purpose of design: This activity is to prepare for later speaking.
2) Read in different ways
I will lead the students to read the dialogue for one time, then I’ll ask them to read the dialogue in different ways. And help them to learn to say the underlined sentences.
Purpose of design: Using different ways to practice the dialogue can help students understand and master the dialogue well.
3) Role play
I will ask the students to make a dialogue with their partners about morning call service, and then ask them to act out. They can use the words, expressions and sentences we have learnt in this dialogue. I will provide some help when they are in trouble.
Purpose of design: Most of Ss can take part in the activities, especially for the Ss who are interested in English. The pair work can improve students’ listening and speaking ability, improve students’ cooperation ability. Besides, the students who are lack of the enthusiasm of English learning also will get more help and progress from their classmates.
StepⅤ Summary
1) Make comments
I will make some comments. I always use good/very good to praise the students.
Purpose of my design: Appropriate comments can help strengthen the students’ confidence.
2) Give rewards
I will choose the best group and the most active students in class according to the scores they got. Then I will give some presents to them.
Purpose of my design: Proper rewards can stimulate students’ interests and confidence.
Step Ⅵ Homework
1) Ask students to summarize the procedures of wake-up calls.
2) Ask students to find out the polite language and practice with their partners.
Purpose of my design: I think homework is so important that the Ss should use English as much as they can in class and after class, it’s also can help students grasp the knowledge well.

According to the students’ situation, in this lesson, I mainly adopt the Task-Based Learning Method. Let students finish the tasks and master the important knowledge during different activities. I also arrange individual work, pair work, and group work for students to practice English. I think if I want the student to improve their oral English, I must give them more chances to practice. That is “Learning by doing, Learning by using ”.
That’s my lesson, thanks for your listening!
