Get into a hobby, It’s good for youis from unit6 of Comprehensive Course for College English. TextA talks about how cultivate a hobby of students and the benefits of cultivating a hobby. It is a reading and writing class and it plays an important part in the English teaching. By studying, students can retell the text and describe their family or a person they know. And the students will do some listening, speaking and writing to improve their professional skills.

In New outline of Comprehensive Course for College English, it requires students to read and remember the words and phrases in text, and master the usage of the words and sentence patterns and talk about the text by using their own words. For the students in vocational school, it is difficult to master the usage of the words and sentence patterns correctly. So I will give some information about the words which we’ll learn before starting listening, after listening the students can read the text and retell the text and talks about their own family and friends so that their skills of listening ,speaking and logic thinking ability can be improved.

Students should fully understand main idea of the text. Then students should master the words like Symptom 症状Deal with sth/doing sthSelf-esteem= confidenceRosarian=the person who planted roseSoul mate

Ability Objectives

After learning, students can retell or summarize the text . Through listening and speaking in class, the skills of listening , speaking and logic thinking ability can be improved.

Cultivate the good feeling of making friends and their social ability

教学设计思路

1.Warm up:Greeting and review the words that Ss have learned last class

2.Lead-in:Watching a video about hobbies to learn about the words and phrases that can help Ss to introduce themselves.

3.Listening to the text, catch the words that can be used to describe person.

4.Reading the text carefully, tell the story by their own words(including: How to cultivate a good hobby to relieve the stress? And the benefits of cultivating the hobbies

 

5.Team work: Ss introduce their hobbies in team, then select one Ss from each team to share with all of the Ss.

6.According to the text, ask the questions of part2, give their ideas.

7.Assignment: recall the words and phrases that we have learned, and give Ss homework.

依据的理论

First, my theoretical basis is schema theory. According to it, the process of listening is an interactive movement between the listening material and the students. For my course is a reading lesson, sometimes, students may feel hard in understanding the foreign backgrounds during the course of their listening. So at the beginning of the lesson, I give out some information of the background as well as some differences between two languages.
